How Does AgodaCash Work?

I’d completed dozens of bookings on Agoda.com before I realized there was AgodaCash sitting in my account. Many are in the same position - either they don’t know they’ve accumulated AgodaCash points or they don’t know how to use them.

In this guide, I’ll explain what you should know about AgodaCash.

We’ll cover what AgodaCash is, how to earn it and spend it on your future bookings, how to access your AgodaCash from within your Agoda account, when AgodaCash expires, and important tips to remember.

What Is AgodaCash?

AgodaCash is Agoda.com’s rewards program.

Agoda built its reputation as the place to go to find discounted hotel rooms. By offering points applicable towards future purchases, Agoda hopes guests will feel like they’re working towards something with each and every purchase - so they’ll return each time they need accommodation (before considering a competitor).

It’s important to understand that AgodaCash is just a points system within the Agoda marketplace and “has no cash value”, according to Agoda’s Policy page. It can be earned and spent easily on the Agoda platform, as you can see in this screenshot below.

How To Get AgodaCash

You’ll earn AgodaCash simply by booking AgodaCash eligible listings on Agoda.com. Eligible listings include budget and luxury hotels, guesthouses, villas, bed and breakfasts, resorts, hostels, homes/apartments and other unique/alternative accommodation types.

Not all Agoda listings are AgodaCash eligible though. You can spot which listings are eligible by the purple AgodaCash symbol and text. In this screenshot, you can see how much AgodaCash I would earn if I were to complete this booking (and successfully check out).

After you’ve created an Agoda account, sign in and select an AgodaCash eligible listing from your search results, then continue through the booking process until you reach the payment page (screenshot below).

AgodaCash earned from your booking will appear in your Agoda account within 7 days after checking out. Agoda enforces this timeframe as a way to prevent and minimize customers from “gaming its system”.

How To Use AgodaCash

You can apply your AgodaCash earnings against the balance of your next booking, after you’ve entered the card information on the payment page.

Agoda.com doesn’t limit the amount of AgodaCash earnings that you can apply to a future booking - any amount equal to or lesser than your booking total is acceptable. You can also earn AgodaCash when you book a listing that you’ve used AgodaCash to pay for.

Lastly, Agoda doesn’t allow AgodaCash earnings to be applied towards all listings. If you find a listing that doesn’t accept your AgodaCash discount, you’ll need to find another listing that does, or wait to apply your AgodaCash earnings to a different booking later.

How To View AgodaCash Earnings Within Your Account

Your AgodaCash balance is displayed in the upper-right corner of your account (in purple).

For details on your AgodaCash balance, the redeemed amount or expired amount, click “AgodaCash” from the account drop-down menu (screenshot below). My AgodaCash balance is $0 in this screenshot, as I tend to apply any balance to the next eligible booking.

How Long AgodaCash Lasts In Your Account

Agoda’s Policy page states that AgodaCash is valid for 5 years from the date it’s added to your account. Some AgodaCash comes with an expiration date (this date would be shown before you make the booking). Of course, the exception would be if Agoda decides to terminate its AgodaCash program prior to that date.

Important Tips!

  • In addition to the earn-as-you-book method covered in this guide, Agoda.com will offer AgodaCash to customers as a reward or incentive. Agoda has sent me many emails over the years, stating that I would earn “x” amount of AgodaCash if I were to book by “y” date.

  • If you were to apply AgodaCash to a refundable booking, but then cancel the booking according to Agoda’s refund policy, that AgodaCash would then be re-credited to your Agoda account.

  • According to Agoda, earned AgodaCash can’t be combined with another applied discount (like vouchers, coupons, etc.). Those discounts must be applied to other bookings instead.

  • Only you and Agoda.com have access to your AgodaCash earnings, meaning you can’t request a host to apply your AgodaCash earnings to an in-person booking or payment.

  • AgodaCash is not tied to fiat currency (like the US Dollar). AgodaCash is a points system and its value is determined by Agoda.com. It can’t be exchanged for currency outside of Agoda.
